{"id":368658,"date":"2025-12-25T20:35:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T20:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/368658\/"},"modified":"2025-12-25T20:35:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T20:35:07","slug":"report-athletics-agree-to-seven-year-86-million-extension-with-lf-tyler-soderstrom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/368658\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Athletics agree to seven-year, $86-million extension with LF Tyler Soderstrom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/teams\/oakland-athletics\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"oakland-athletics\" data-league=\"mlb\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Athletics<\/a> are paying big bucks to keep an important player in the fold.<\/p>\n<p>Left fielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/players\/tyler-soderstrom\/50f70155-b48c-49d9-ab32-09340f5c1880\" class=\"sn-player-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-player=\"50f70155-b48c-49d9-ab32-09340f5c1880\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Tyler Soderstrom<\/a> and the club have agreed to a seven-year, $86-million extension, ESPN&#8217;s Jeff Passan <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JeffPassan\/status\/2004278207701492168?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">reported<\/a> Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>It is the largest guaranteed payout in franchise history, according to Passan.<\/p>\n<p>Passan reports there is an eighth-year club option and the deal has escalators that could see Soderstrom earn a maximum of $131 million.<\/p>\n<p>Soderstrom, 24, slashed .276\/.346\/.474 with 25 homers and 93 RBIs last season.<\/p>\n<p>The Athletics selected Soderstrom 26th overall in the 2020 draft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Athletics are paying big bucks to keep an important player in the fold.
