Emmanuel Adebayor has jabbed Jamie Carragher following the former Liverpool defender’s comments about Mohamed Salah, describing them as disrespectful and unfair toward one of football\u2019s most consistent performers. <\/p>\n

Carragher had slammed Salah after the Liverpool forward publicly expressed frustration during a difficult spell for the club, questioning his leadership, timing and influence, and suggesting the Egyptian was becoming more of a problem than a solution.<\/p>\n

Those remarks did not sit well with Adebayor, who responded forcefully while speaking to BeanymanSports.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard what Jamie Carragher said about Mo Salah, and to be honest, I think it\u2019s incredibly disrespectful. He has been consistent for seven or eight years. To talk about him as if he is a finished player or a problem for the team is wrong,\u201d Adebayor said.<\/p>\n

The former Togo captain stressed that Salah\u2019s stature in world football should demand appreciation rather than criticism. <\/p>\n

\u201cMo Salah is an African icon, but he is also a global football icon. When you have a player like that, you cherish him,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Adebayor also reminded Carragher of his own playing career, suggesting the pundit should know better. <\/p>\n

\u201cCarragher was a great defender, and he knows how hard it is to play against a player like Salah. To sit in a studio and say these things, it feels like he\u2019s forgotten what it\u2019s like on the pitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

He ended with a sharp take on double standards in football discourse. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf he were English, they would be building a statue for him every week. Because he is Salah, and because he is African, people find it easy to criticize him.\u201d<\/p>\n
