1950s sensation Marty Reisman<\/a>. Chalamet\u2019s beguiling rogue character blends comedy, action and romance in a role totally distinct from Bob Dylan in \u201cA Complete Unknown\u201d or Willy Wonka, just to name a few. He\u2019s been previously nominated for two Oscars and has been nominated for a Golden Globe for actor in a comedy movie for \u201cMarty Supreme,\u201d so the only question now is how far can he go?<\/p>\n\tGwyneth Paltrow as Kay Stone<\/p>\n

Stone is starring in a play financed by her coarse husband (played by Kevin O\u2019Leary) and finds the over-confident Marty to be an intriguing diversion as he woos her from London to New York. Paltrow convincingly jumps into the erotically charged pairing, marking a welcome return to the screen for the Oscar-winning actress who has been focusing more on her entrepreneurial activities of late.<\/p>\n
\tOdessa A\u2019zion as Rachel Mizler<\/p>\n

\n\tShe\u2019s been making waves in the love-it-or-hate-it HBO series \u201cI Love L.A.\u201d this year, but in \u201cMarty Supreme,\u201d Odessa A\u2019zion takes on a totally different role as a spirited young woman on the Lower East Side in 1950s New York. Rachel Mizler grew up with Marty Mauser but somehow got saddled with an abusive brute of a husband and a job in a pet shop. She finds solace with the unreliable but much more charming Marty, and ends up becoming his accomplice in a dangerous caper to retrieve a dog from an enraged farmer. A\u2019zion has starred in movies like \u201cHellraiser\u201d since starting out in her mother Pamela Adlon\u2019s series \u201cBetter Things.\u201d<\/p>\n
\tKevin O\u2019Leary as Milton Rockwell<\/p>\n

\n\tKevin O\u2019Leary is best known as \u201cMr. Wonderful,\u201d a successful Canadian entrepreneur who has been a regular on the long-running reality series \u201cShark Tank\u201d since 2009. In \u201cMarty Supreme,\u201d O\u2019Leary makes his acting debut playing Milton Rockwell, the manipulative businessman husband of Kay Stone, who first charms Marty with his interest in Marty\u2019s table tennis career before turning on him in the most evil ways. \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d marked a reunion for O\u2019Leary and Paltrow, who has appeared on \u201cShark Tank.\u201d <\/p>\n

As a native of Queens, she brings an authentic New York flavor to the role of the beleaguered mom who doesn\u2019t quite get her ambitious and conniving son.<\/p>\n

\n\tTyler, the Creator is known for his music career and long list of music videos, and the hip-hop artist has appeared in TV shows including \u201cThe Mindy Project\u201d and provided voices for \u201cBig Mouth\u201d and other animated projects. \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d is his first major film role, and he plays Marty\u2019s loyal friend Wally, a taxi driver who gets caught up in Marty\u2019s wild scheme to hustle local ping pong players and earn a few extra bucks to finance an expensive trip to an overseas tournament.<\/p>\n

\n\tJapanese table tennis champion Koto Kawaguchi makes his movie debut in \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d as Marty Mauser\u2019s formidable opponent Koto Endo. In real life, Kawaguchi has won titles in several deaf ping pong championships. The character of Endo is based on Hiroji Satoh, a Gold Medalist in the 1950s who competed against Marty Reisman and was the first player to use sponge-coated paddles. <\/p>\n
\tAbel Ferrara as Ezra Mishkin<\/p>\n

\n\tVeteran New York indie filmmaker and sometimes-actor Abel Ferrara plays Ezra Mishkin, a violent and vindictive criminal with an overzealous affection for his mangy dog, who tangles with Marty when his pup goes missing. Ferrara helmed gritty, atmospheric crime dramas like \u201cBad Lieutenant\u201d and \u201cKing of New York\u201d that appear to be big influences on both Safdie brothers.<\/p>\n

\n\tComic actress Sandra Bernhard plays Judy, a yenta neighbor of the Mauser family. The Michigan native is a longtime New Yorker, and with formative roles like Martin Scorsese\u2019s \u201cThe King of Comedy,\u201d she cemented her place in Gotham\u2019s film and theater worlds. The famously outspoken actress went on to appear on \u201cRoseanne\u201d and recently made appearances on \u201cSeverance\u201d and \u201cPercy Jackson and the Olympians.\u201d<\/p>\n

In college, Mamet and his friend, comedian and table tennis champ Jonathan Katz, hustled onlookers by letting Mamet, the lesser player, win games for money. Later on, Mamet became a habitu\u00e9 of the upper West Side table tennis gym owned by Marty Reisman, the ping pong legend whose life inspired \u201cMarty Supreme.\u201d Dustin Hoffman and Matthew Broderick were among the parlor\u2019s other famous patrons. In \u201cMarty Supreme,\u201d Mamet plays Glen Nordmann, director of the play that Gwyneth Paltrow\u2019s faded star Kay Stone is starring in.<\/p>\n
