With a win on Christmas day against the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>, the Denver Broncos<\/a> now control their own destiny in the AFC playoff race.<\/p>\n

If Denver were to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> next week, they’ll earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC and a first-round bye that comes with it.<\/p>\n

After being held to only field goals in the first half, Bo Nix scored a rushing touchdown in the third quarter before connecting with running back RJ Harvey in the back of the end zone in the fourth quarter to break a 13-13 tie.<\/p>\n

Although they didn’t provide the most convincing victory versus the Chiefs and their third-string quarterback, the Broncos found a way to win, something they’ve done in close games all season.<\/p>\n

Thursday night’s game was the 13th one-score game that Denver has played this season. Of those 13 games, Denver is 11-2. Their two losses came in Weeks 2 and 3, having lost to the Colts<\/a> and Chargers.<\/p>\n

Additionally, last night’s game saw the Broncos win another game after trailing. Denver trailed 7-6 at halftime and didn’t hold their first lead until the 1:55 mark in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

The victory also marks the Broncos’ 12th comeback win of the season, an NFL record<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That said, the New England Patriots<\/a> and Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> have not yet been ruled out for the No. 1 seed. New England will face the Jets<\/a> this Sunday while the Jaguars are matched up against the Indianapolis Colts.<\/p>\n
