{"id":370537,"date":"2025-12-26T18:33:04","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T18:33:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/370537\/"},"modified":"2025-12-26T18:33:04","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T18:33:04","slug":"are-we-still-loving-pluribus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/370537\/","title":{"rendered":"Are We Still Loving Pluribus?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are We Still Loving Pluribus?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/img-48078-01.jpg\"   loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1500\" height=\"844\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Pluribus title card\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Since we had <a href=\"https:\/\/kottke.org\/25\/11\/whats-all-the-fuss-about-pluribus\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a robust discussion<\/a> last month on whether <a href=\"https:\/\/tv.apple.com\/us\/show\/pluribus\/umc.cmc.37axgovs2yozlyh3c2cmwzlza\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pluribus<\/a> sucks or not, I thought I\u2019d ask: now that the season finale has aired, what did you think of the first season as a whole?<\/p>\n<p>My impression of the show has improved slightly, but this feeling remains:<\/p>\n<p>It was somewhere around the middle of episode two when I started asking myself if I was supposed to care about Carol and what was going to happen to her, which is never a good sign. I like plenty of shows with unlikable protagonists (like Succession &amp; Seinfeld) but I often can\u2019t get past stubborn &amp; incurious ones \u2014 it just seems fake to me and breaks my willing suspension of disbelief.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m definitely in the minority here, but I just don\u2019t think Carol\u2019s character is very realistic \u2014 like, I\u2019m not sure how that post-joining person with that personality got to where she was in the world pre-joining. That said, I find the premise of the show and the intellectual tension of the individual vs. the hive mind very interesting; I\u2019ll give season two a shot.<\/p>\n<p>Also, share links in the comments to good writeups\/analyses on the finale and season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Are We Still Loving Pluribus?
