If you\u2019re looking for some movie night picks on Prime Video, the streaming service<\/a> is delivering ahead of the weekend. The holidays might be drawing to a close, but the Amazon-owned streamer is still handing out gifts in the form of must-watch movies.<\/p>\n

Prime Video is celebrating the best of 2025 this week, as it\u2019s just added some of the biggest (and, in my opinion, best) movies of the past 12 months, and they deserve to be in your watchlist. These include vibrant video game adaptation “A Minecraft Movie” and the uber-acclaimed \u201cSinners.” And you can’t overlook the old favorites also streaming now.<\/p>\n

So, if you\u2019re planning a Prime Video movie marathon this weekend, then here are the three movies that should be at the very top of your watchlist.<\/p>\n

To be upfront, I recently named \u201cA Minecraft Movie\u201d as one of the worst movies of 2025<\/a>, but I can think of almost a billion reasons you might like it. Grossing $958m at the global box office, this one case, where I\u2019m putting my personal opinion to one side, because there\u2019s no denying that this high-energy blockbuster was a firm crowd-pleaser. Fans of the Minecraft video game clearly had a blast with this big-screen spin on the popular block-building title. And with a sequel already confirmed in development, now is a great time to watch it on Prime Video.<\/p>\n

Starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa and Danielle Brooks, it\u2019s a supremely silly movie, but that\u2019s part of the charm. There are some excellent lines (\u201cthe children yearn for the mines”), and also a simple but fitting story. It sees four misfits transported into a Minecraft universe, where they meet the enigmatic Steve (Black), and team up to save the blocky world from a sinister threat, an oversized pig named Malgosha, who controls a zombie army. \u201cA Minecraft Movie\u201d is a chaotic and irreverent crowd-pleaser.<\/p>\n

\u2018Sinners\u2019 (2025)<\/p>\n

From one of my least favorite movies of 2025 to one that ranks among my top 10 of the year, \u201cSinners\u201d is every bit as excellent as you\u2019ve probably already heard. This critically acclaimed horror-thriller from director Ryan Coogler has big awards potential, but is certainly no Oscar-bait. It\u2019s a remarkably well-crafted movie that can be enjoyed as a slice of popcorn entertainment and also appreciated for its artistic merits. It also includes some of the best action sequences of the year, and perhaps Michael B. Jordan\u2019s best-ever performance.<\/p>\n

Set in the 1930s, Jordan plays twin brothers, Smoke and Stack. After a period working for the mob in Chicago, they return to rural Mississippi to open a juke joint in an abandoned barn. However, on opening night, what starts as a raucous celebration soon turns sinister when a blood-sucking vampire (Jack O\u2019Connell) arrives on the scene and wages a campaign of carnage. Visually stunning, with a beautifully fitting score, \u201cSinners\u201d is arguably the movie of 2025 and is one you should not skip.<\/p>\n

\u2018Zombieland\u2019 (2009)<\/p>\n

\u201cZombieland\u201d was added to Prime Video at the very start of the month, but it\u2019s no less worth watching this weekend than it was a few weeks back. Heck, this post-apocalyptic comedy might be more than 15 years old at this point, but it remains bloody good fun. Eschewing the dour tone that was popular in zombie media at the time (\u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d would debut the following year), \u201cZombieland\u201d has heaps of fun in a world that has gone very south. It\u2019s self-aware, offers pleasing pulpy action, and is led by an all-star cast of unlikely heroes.<\/p>\n

Starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin, \u201cZombieland\u201d sees this quartet of underdogs come together on an epic road trip to a supposed safe haven in Los Angeles. To survive, they follow a careful set of rules created by Columbus (Eisenberg). Along the way, they encounter everything from hordes of the undead to an iconic movie star holding up in his plush mansion. \u201cZombieland\u201d is a hilarious and heart-warming trip through the apocalypse.<\/p>\n
