Music legend Kate Bush<\/a> has pocketed \u00a310.8million from the revival of Running Up That Hill after the track featured in Stranger Things<\/a>, I can reveal.<\/p>\n

And it is about to land her another handsome payday, 40 years after its original release, as it will again feature in the series\u2019 finale on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n

The song hit No 3 in the UK when it came out in 1985 \u2013 but turned into a global phenomenon when it featured in the hit Netflix<\/a> drama in 2022, becoming the No1 single of the year worldwide, according to US chart firm Billboard.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Then, it was reported that Ms Bush had earned around \u00a31.9 million in streaming royalties.<\/p>\n

Now, however, figures filed for the musician\u2019s publishing company, Noble & Brite, suggest that was only the start.<\/p>\n

The firm\u2019s assets have soared from \u00a32.1 million in 2022, before the song featured in Stranger\u00a0Things, to \u00a312.9million by March\u00a0this year. That works out at almost \u00a310,000 a day over the period.<\/p>\n

The reclusive Ms Bush has spoken of her surprise at the song\u2019s renaissance, telling Radio 4 \u2019s Woman\u2019s Hour: \u2018It\u2019s such a great series, I thought the track would get some attention. But I never imagined that it would be anything like this. It\u2019s just extraordinary\u2026 quite shocking really, isn\u2019t it?\u2019<\/p>\n

In Stranger Things, Running Up That Hill is grieving teen Max Mayfield\u2019s favourite song and gives her strength to fight demons.<\/p>\n

Uncommonly for artists of her generation, Ms Bush, 67, still owns the rights to her recordings, both as writer and performer, allowing her to profit from every stream, download and broadcast.<\/p>\n
