However, MLB‘s runner-up in the World Series is expected to have at least one more big move in them this offseason. They have been linked to a reunion with Bo Bichette. Toronto has also been linked (in one fashion or another) to Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, Ketel Marte, and Kazuma Okamoto, to name a few.

While they consider a massive swing on a big bat, they have also nibbled around the edges. They have signed pitching prospects with exciting fastball velocity and solid potential. The Blue Jays have also added power hitters, aggressive defenders, and at least one clutch slugger. These moves might not appear to be of significant consequence, but they are long-term investments designed to prolong the organization’s success.

With Christmas Day in the rearview, one MLB insider had a dose of good news for the Blue Jays to savor like their favorite holiday drink.

Toronto Blue Jays Predicted to Land Two-Out-Of-Three Big Bats

One of the most prominent MLB insiders has predicted that the Blue Jays aren’t done making big moves. Jon Heyman of the New York Post has tabbed Toronto as the second-biggest winner of the offseason so far, with their additions of Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, Tyler Rogers, and what they are poised to do on the position player market.

“They made the biggest deal (Dylan Cease, $210 million, seven years),” Heyman wrote on December 25th, 2025. “Further enhanced the rotation with Korean star Cody Ponce ($30M, three years) and added reliable reliever Tyler Rogers ($37M). What’s more, their biggest move may be yet to come.”

“They’re linked to the No. 1 free agent, Kyle Tucker, and they’re considering either Bo Bichette or Alex Bregman. They must have enjoyed their World Series foray as much as we did.”

This is curious phrasing for Heyman. The first takeaway is that they are virtual locks to secure Tucker, and that Toronto will pick up one of Bichette or Bregman.

Blue Jays Still Connected to Other Free Agent Bats

It doesn’t stop at Tucker, Bichette, and Bregman for the Blue Jays. They are still connected to Okamoto, whose 45-day window is closing soon.

According to Heyman, the Boston Red Sox are looking to take a dip into the free agent pool — which could spoil Toronto’s plans.

“They’ve made 10 trades but are one of two teams yet to sign a free agent, along with Colorado,” Heyman wrote in the same article as above. “Sonny Gray is the starter they needed, and Willson Contreras is a nice middle-of-the-order add after missing on Schwarber and Alonso.”

“If they can bring back Bregman, sign Bichette, or add Ketel Marte, they catapult up.”

Red Sox & Blue Jays Hunting Same Big Bats

In a different article, Heyman connects the Red Sox to another free agent who has yet to make a decision.

“The Red Sox are also considering Bo Bichette, Kazuma Okamoto, and Ketel Marte,” Heyman wrote in another December 25th article. “The Pirates, Angels, Jays, D-Backs, and Cubs are among others interested in Okamoto.”

Not a lot has been written about the Blue Jays’ interest in Okamoto. The connection makes sense, primarily because Okamoto is grouped with Bichette and Bregman on the free agent market.

However, they will face a lot of competition, as the Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Angels, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Chicago Cubs are also interested.

What’s Going on With Kyle Tucker?

Not much has been said of Tucker for at least a week. Some in the industry believe that the Blue Jays make the most sense and that an agreement will come soon.

While Blue Jays fans wait on bated breath for a resolution, Heyman dropped an interesting twist in the Tucker saga.

“Top free agent Tucker was linked weeks ago to the Jays, but his free agency mostly remains a mystery,” Heyman revealed.

The fact that his free agency “mostly remains a mystery” is another case of interesting phrasing. It’s possible that Tucker’s camp has gathered all the information they want and is focused on mulling things over before coming to a decision.

One thing that could be under consideration, is a short term deal. Paul Hembekides of ESPN revealed that a two year or four year deal could be in the cards for Tucker.

What Do Tucker, Bichette, Bregman, and Okamoto Bring to the Plate?

Tucker did well for the Cubs in 2025. In 136 games, he landed 133 hits, 73 RBIs, 22 home runs, and 25 stolen bases.

Bichette played in 139 games with the Blue Jays, connecting on 181 hits, 94 RBIs, 18 home runs, and four stolen bases. Bregman connected on 118 hits, 62 RBIs, 18 home runs, and one stolen base in 114 games.

Finally, Okamoto was limited to 77 games in 2025. In those games, he posted 87 hits, 51 RBIs, 15 home runs, and one stolen base.

From a strictly numbers perspective, Tucker is the best all-around option. Bichette and Okamoto present the best slugger options for the Blue Jays.

Bo Bichette’s Looming Decision

Will Bichette return to the Blue Jays or seek a new opportunity? No one truly knows what is happening.

While it’s reasonable to suggest that if Bichette were going to return to Toronto, he would have signed by now. When it comes to decisions of this magnitude, the final call isn’t always easy.

If Bichette’s goal is to win the World Series, it’s tough to argue against the Blue Jays being his best bet. He doesn’t need to win over the coaching staff or prove himself to his teammates and fans. By sticking with Toronto, nothing changes on that side.

It’s not known if Bichette has an internal deadline on making a decision. However, if he has an offer on the table from the Blue Jays, he’d be silly not take it. The combination of a winning ball club with teammates with whom he has an excellent rapport is hard to ignore.

At the end of the day, the Blue Jays have a good chance at landing at least one of Tucker, Bichette, Bregman, and Okamoto. That’s more than good news for Blue Jays fans, even if it didn’t come before Christmas.

Getty What will the Blue Jays do with Bo Bichette?
