Steinbach RCMP are investigating a fatal snowmobile collision that occurred Thursday morning in the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie.<\/p>\n
Police say officers were called at 11:50 a.m. on December 26 to a report of a collision near a residence on Carriere Drive West.<\/p>\n
According to RCMP, a 41-year-old man was found at the scene requiring medical attention. Officers provided first aid until emergency medical services arrived.<\/p>\n
Details of the collision<\/p>\n
Investigators believe the man had been operating a snowmobile on private property when he lost control of the machine.<\/p>\n
Police say the snowmobile crossed over the roadway and struck an embankment on the opposite side.<\/p>\n
RCMP indicate the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was ejected from the snowmobile, sustaining life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Investigation ongoing<\/p>\n
STARS Air Ambulance was called to transport the patient to Winnipeg hospital but was called off after the man was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n
