And this year, judges chose the PCH Nursing Department as the winner,\u00a0taking home a $250 Co-op gift card.<\/p>\n<p>Hand-crafted decorations stand out<\/p>\n<p>Reeve for the RM of Stuartburn, Michelle Gawronski, says that the PCH Nursing department impressed judges with hand-crafted decorations that lined the hallways and lit up the entire area. She adds that residents were thrilled to see the displays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResidents were very quick to point out their favourites,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She congratulated everyone involved in making the space feel festive. \u201cCongratulations to all who made this area so festive. Well done!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A tough decision for judges<\/p>\n<p>With several departments putting in time and effort, choosing a winner was not easy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision was made more difficult with the time and effort put forward by the other decorated departments,\u201d Gawronski said. \u201cCongratulations to all, it is this dedication that shows just how much everyone cares. It helps to boost the morale of not only staff, but of the people that live there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joy is shared by residents and staff<\/p>\n<p>Gawronski says the reaction from residents and visitors was heart-warming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was fun! And hearing the staff laughing, the residents\u2019 excitement was so great!!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Departments taking part in the contest included the Activities Department, Hospital staff, PCH Nursing, and Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Residents lend a helping hand<\/p>\n<p>Residents of the Personal Care Home were also involved, helping make snowflakes used throughout the displays. Nursing staff at the PCH added to the d\u00e9cor by hand-making several unique decorations, adding a personal touch to the halls.<\/p>\n<p>Decorations stay up into January<\/p>\n<p>The holiday cheer will continue into the new year. Gawronski says decorations will remain up until Ukrainian Christmas on January 7, with the Foundation planning a January celebration to help extend the holidays for residents.<\/p>\n<p>Foundation shows appreciation for staff<\/p>\n<p>Gawronski also highlighted the Foundation\u2019s efforts to thank staff for their hard work.<\/p>\n<p>Appreciation gift boxes were provided to all 12 departments, filled with cookies, candy, chocolates, peanuts, chips, dips, and other treats. The Foundation also purchased a new coffee maker for the staff lunchroom, along with several cases of coffee and different kinds of hot chocolate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and are so appreciative of each and every staff member,\u201d Gawronski said. \u201cIt is their kindness and attitude that makes the place a great place for the residents to live.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About the Vita and District Health Centre<\/p>\n<p>Located in Vita, the Vita and District Health Centre is a 10-bed acute care hospital and includes a medical clinic, personal care home, emergency medical services, and community health offices.
