Crawford watch parties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The July 2023 boxing championship match between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford generated more than $55 million in pay-per-view revenue. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">But according to a series of new lawsuits, the company that has the exclusive rights to livestream the event in bars, lounges, and restaurants didn\u2019t get its full share because some establishments, including in the Philadelphia area, hosted unauthorized viewing parties. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">G &amp; G Closed Circuit Events, a Nevada-based company, filed 10 federal lawsuits this month in New Jersey and Pennsylvania against businesses it claims engaged in \u201cunlawful interception, receipt and publication\u201d of the Spence vs. Crawford fight on July 29, 2023. The new local filings join numerous other lawsuits across the country filed by G &amp; G over events streaming the fight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Among those hit with lawsuits are Dubai Nightclub and Camden Arts Yard in Camden, and Lai Lounge in Old City. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">G &amp; G is a \u201cleader in providing boxing, MMA and other content to commercial establishments such as bars, restaurants, nightclubs and casinos\u201a&#8221;<a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/ggccevents.com\/ggcc-news-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/ggccevents.com\/ggcc-news-media\/\"> according to the company\u2019s website<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">To host a public viewing of the fight, the suits say, establishments were required to get contractual authorization from G &amp; G, which had the exclusive distribution rights in North America for the Spence vs. Crawford fight in Las Vegas. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The commercial fee to stream the fight legally was $2,300, according to an Arizona lawsuit. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p type-interstitial text-primary\">\u00bb READ MORE: <a data-link-type=\"interstitial\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/news\/aew-lawsuit-kevin-kelly-philadelphia-20240905.html\" class=\"no-underline text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Announcer and two pro-wrestlers sue AEW in Philly over contracts and alleged defamation<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">In the lawsuits against Dubai, Camden Arts Yard, and Lai Lounge, G &amp; G asks the court to award it over $170,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">No representative from Dubai answered the company\u2019s publicly available phone number, which leads to a full voicemail box. Camden Arts Yard and Lai Lounge did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">In addition to the lawsuits filed this month, G &amp; G has filed dozens of lawsuits in federal courts throughout the country since 2010 over alleged unauthorized broadcasting of boxing fights. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Thomas Riley, a California attorney representing G &amp; G in the recently filed Pennsylvania and New Jersey cases, said his office \u201cvigorously and rigorously\u201d investigates events for \u201ctheft\u201d using the assistance of private investigators.
