Disney<\/a> dominated the Christmas box office as two of its tentpole releases powered the studio to a historic milestone. Strong holiday attendance pushed Disney Studios past $6 billion worldwide, making it the only major studio to reach that mark in 2025.<\/p>\n

Disney crosses $6 billion in 2025<\/p>\n

Disney officially crossed $6 billion at the global box office. The studio has generated $2.3 billion domestically, the highest of any major motion picture studio this year, alongside $3.65 billion internationally. Warner Bros. remains the next closest competitor at $4.3 billion worldwide.<\/p>\n

This milestone came a few days earlier than expected due to the sustained global performance of James Cameron<\/a>\u2019s Avatar: Fire and Ash, which has now crossed<\/a> $760 million worldwide. The achievement is Disney\u2019s fifth time surpassing $6 billion, following similar feats in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.<\/p>\n

Disney\u2019s box office 2025 total is built on 16 wide releases, including two billion-dollar earners: Zootopia 2<\/a> at roughly $1.4 billion globally and Lilo & Stitch<\/a> at $1.083 billion. Three Marvel releases (Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps) collectively added $1.3 billion, while other titles, such as Avatar 3, at $760 million globally to date, helped maintain momentum through the year.<\/p>\n

Avatar: Fire and Ash box office holds strong through Christmas<\/p>\n

Avatar: Fire and Ash remained firmly atop the domestic box office during the Christmas corridor. The film earned $64 million in its second weekend, aka December 26 to 28, reflecting just a 28% drop from its opening frame. It also pulled in $24 million on Christmas Day alone.<\/p>\n

That performance pushed the film\u2019s domestic total to $217 million. The minimal decline shows sustained audience interest, especially when compared to prior franchise entries that saw steeper second-weekend drops.<\/p>\n

Zootopia 2 gets a box office surge in fifth weekend<\/p>\n

Zootopia 2 gave one of the most impressive holiday holds of the season. In its fifth weekend, the animated seque<\/a>l earned $20 million domestically, which is a 34% jump from the $14 million it made the previous weekend.<\/p>\n

The surge lifted its domestic total to $321 million, reinforcing its status as Disney\u2019s top animated performer of the year.
