{"id":376015,"date":"2025-12-29T22:39:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T22:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/376015\/"},"modified":"2025-12-29T22:39:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T22:39:10","slug":"archie-ryan-signs-multi-year-contract-extension-with-ef-education-easypost-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/376015\/","title":{"rendered":"Archie Ryan signs multi-year contract extension with EF Education-EasyPost \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Archie Ryan has secured a contract extension with EF Education-EasyPost, with the American team rewarding him after a strong first two seasons as a pro rider.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Wicklow cyclist won a stage of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali in 2024, less than three months after making his debut, and this year finished second overall in the Tour of Austria and fourth on a stage of the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cExtending his contract gives him more time to prove that he can win races in the World Tour,\u201d team CEO Jonathan Vaughters said of Ryan on Monday. \u201cHe has very specific abilities as a rider, and one of these days, in one of these races that has a really explosive uphill finish, he\u2019s going to pull something special off. We all believe in him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ryan was already due to compete with the squad in 2026 and the length of the extension has not been specified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The 24-year-old cited the presence of fellow Irish cyclist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/ben-healy\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/ben-healy\/\">Ben Healy<\/a> as a factor in his decision to remain with the team. \u201cI think for anyone, Ben is a huge inspiration. As a friend, it\u2019s special to see a rider like him develop over the last few years,\u201d Ryan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cIt\u2019s no surprise for the people who know him, but he\u2019s shown a pathway that inspires us to follow. That\u2019s certainly the dream. It\u2019s not an easy task or a certainty, but we want to try and follow in his footsteps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He added the relationships he\u2019s built within the team and the faith they have shown in him were instrumental to his decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cEF Education-Easy Post believed in me right from the very start. When I came to the team, I\u2019d had a long period of injury, and the team gave me the opportunity to turn things around and grow. Ever since then, I\u2019ve felt right at home,\u201d said Ryan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cDevelopment for me is about becoming more consistent and adapting to the World Tour. I\u2019ve not quite got into the swing of that yet, but I want to win bike races and get my hands in the air as much as possible.
