{"id":376181,"date":"2025-12-30T00:30:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-30T00:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/376181\/"},"modified":"2025-12-30T00:30:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-30T00:30:07","slug":"raptors-centre-jakob-poeltl-to-be-re-evaluated-in-one-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/376181\/","title":{"rendered":"Raptors centre Jakob Poeltl to be re-evaluated in one week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/basketball\/nba\/teams\/toronto-raptors\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"toronto-raptors\" data-league=\"nba\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Toronto Raptors<\/a> will be without their starting centre for at least another week. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"sn-player-post-link\" data-player=\"e1b3d3d5-b4b1-481a-b5b9-efe4231f48bf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/basketball\/nba\/players\/jakob-poeltl\/e1b3d3d5-b4b1-481a-b5b9-efe4231f48bf\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jakob Poeltl<\/a> will be re-evaluated in one week as he continues to recover from a lower back strain, the Raptors announced on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The seven-foot centre will remain on the sidelines while he completes a program of intensive rehabilitation and strengthening, the team said in a press release. <\/p>\n<p>Poeltl, who has been nursing a lower back injury all season, has missed five of Toronto&#8217;s last six games, playing only seven minutes before having to exit against the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 21.<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old&#8217;s production decreased this season while he&#8217;s dealt with the back issues. Poeltl is averaging 9.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists through 21 appearances on the heels of a career-best season in 2024-25, which earned the 30-year-old a three-year, $84 million extension in the off-season.<\/p>\n<p>Toronto will also be without RJ Barrett (right knee sprain), who was ruled out on the second night of a back-to-back, while rookie Collin Murray-Boyles is available after initially being listed as questionable due to illness. Murray-Boyles had missed Toronto&#8217;s last two games. <\/p>\n<p>The Raptors (19-14) take on the <a class=\"sn-team-post-link\" data-team=\"orlando-magic\" data-league=\"nba\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/basketball\/nba\/teams\/orlando-magic\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Orlando Magic<\/a> (18-14) on Monday night at the Scotiabank Arena.
