UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall<\/a> has been forced to take extreme measures to get his eye health back to a good place after Ciryl Gane’s pokes.<\/p>\n

Aspinall (15-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) has been dealing with the fallout of Gane (13-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) poking him in both eyes during their UFC 321 title fight in October, which led to a no contest result<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After seeing specialists and trying to determine the exact extent of the damage, Aspinall previously forecasted the possibility of having to undergo a procedure to aid in his recovery from the situation.<\/p>\n

That plan is moving forward, because according to Aspinall, surgery on both eyes should be completed within the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

“By the time this (video) is going out I’ll probably have surgery on one eye already,” Aspinall said on his YouTube channel<\/a>. “Next surgery is coming mid-January. So, we’re working towards getting back and that’s the plan.”<\/p>\n

Aspinall, 32, did not give a timeline for when he will be in good enough health to accept a fight and begin a training camp.<\/p>\n

He’s previously made it clear the that only matchup on his radar is the rematch with Gane, who has accused of being an intentional cheater<\/a> and intends to make pay for the way the first fight ended.<\/p>\n
