Last week, the UFL announced that former Saint Louis Battlehawks head coach Anthony Becht was moved to Orlando to lead the Orlando Storm in 2026. In addition to Becht being added as the Storm’s head coach, an X account called State of the Stallions leaked information about how the new UFL rosters will be built in January 2026.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE 🚨

SOTS was able to get its hands on a document laying out how @TheUFL will handle rosters in 2026.

– Teams will head to training camp with 64 players
– Teams get first rights to sign up to 10 players from local colleges
– League assigns 3 QBs per team by Jan 5… pic.twitter.com/QtTcvOJDPB

— State of the Stallions 🏆🏆🏆 (@SOTStallions) December 19, 2025

As one of four UFL teams with a head coach, the Orlando Storm has the advantage of being able to secure the talent Becht needs to build a championship team. By January 5th, 2026, the UFL will have each UFL team’s head coach compile a priority list of the players they would like at the quarterback position. The UFL player personnel department will then be assigning three quarterbacks to each team for the 2026 season.

Being one of only two coaches with UFL head coaching experience, Anthony Becht should have a significant advantage over most of the other coaches in the UFL. What Becht has that many of the others do not have is direct experience either coaching the available players or having coached against them. Therefore, Becht should have a very clear vision of what he needs from a quarterback to lead his offense.

Based on the UFL’s concept of creating teams with players and coaches who share a community experience, and on the needs of Becht on the offensive side of the ball, we have put together a wish list of quarterbacks Becht should claim. The more of these quarterbacks Becht can get for Orlando, the stronger the bond will be between the Storm and the Orlando community. In addition, these quarterbacks, combined with how Becht tends to set up his game plans, should give the Storm the best chance to start their inaugural season as the best team in the UFL in 2026.

1. Kyle Trask

Former Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask would be a slam-dunk acquisition for the Orlando Storm. Orlando should get top priority to secure Trask, given that Florida is one of the four college football programs they can mine for players. Trask played in 29 games for the Gators from 2016 until 2020. While playing for Florida, Trask completed 552 out of 813 passes for 7.386 passing yards with 69 touchdown passes and only 15 interceptions.

In addition to playing college football at Florida, Trask was also drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2021 NFL Draft. Trask spent five seasons with the Buccaneers, but he played in only 7 games and attempted only 11 passes as an NFL quarterback. Becht and Trask share a connection with the Buccaneers because Becht played tight end for Tampa Bay for three seasons.

2. Max Duggan

While Max Duggan is not necessarily going to have the benefit of a direct connection with the Orlando fan base due to his past experiences, Duggan does not direct experience with Anthony Becht. While Becht played college football at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas he did play quarterback for the Saint Louis Battlehawks for eight games during the 2025 UFL season. While playing for Becht last season, Duggan completed 63 out of 110 passes for 696 passing yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.

Duggan moved on to the CFL after the UFL season where he played in three games for the Toronto Argonauts. While playing for the Argonauts Duggan completed 13 out of 17 passes for 109 yards along with one touchdown and no interceptions. Before coming to the UFL and CFL, Duggan was a 7th round draft pick for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 after he led the TCU Horned Frogs to a National Championship game appearance in 2022.

3. Tyler Huff

A great third option at quarterback for the Orlando Storm would be Tyler Huff from the Jacksonville Sharks of the Indoor Football League. While playing for the Sharks in 2025, Huff ran the ball for 22 touchdowns and threw 15 touchdown passes with only three interceptions. Huff’s productivity will not directly relate to how Huff will perform in the outdoor UFL. His ability to be a dual-threat quarterback adds several dimensions to the Storm’s offense.

Huff also has experience and success in outdoor football. From 2019 to 2021, Huff played college football at FCS Presbyterian College, and then transferred to FCS Furman University, where he played from 2021 to 2022. During his time at the FCS level, Huff played in 46 games, passing for 6,628 yards with 46 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. In 2024, Huff transferred again to FBS Jacksonville State, where he played in 14 games 2024. While playing for the Gamecocks, Huff completed 178 out of 202 passes for 2,845 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes with seven interceptions.

4. Taulia Tagovailoa

Another name that would be very recognizable to football fans in Orlando would be Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Unlike Tua, Taulia has not found an opportunity in professional football since leaving the University of Maryland. While playing at Maryland, Tagovailoa completed 67.1% of his passes for 11,356 passing yards along with 77 passing touchdowns and 37 interceptions. In addition, Tagovailoa ran the ball 262 times for 205 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns during his college football career.

In 2025, Tagovailoa spent time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL. After failing to earn a role in the Tiger-Cats’ loaded quarterback room, Tagovailoa played a few games in the European League of Football. When Tagovailoa returned from Europe, he signed with the Massachusetts Pirates of the IFL to help the Pirates finish their 2025 season.

5. Kellen Mond

All indications from the UFL are that the team now known as the Orlando Storm was previously the San Antonio Brahmas. So bringing in a former Brahmas quarterback would not be out of the question. The best of the Brahmas quarterbacks from the 2025 season was Kellen Mond. The one hangup with acquiring Mond is that the former NFL and former Brahmas quarterback played college football at Texas A&M. Texas A&M is among the colleges allotted to the Houston Gamblers, but if the Gamblers do not want Mond, he could be a backup quarterback for Orlando.

Last season, Mond played in eight games for the San Antonio Brahmas, but while playing for the Brahmas, Mond completed only 98 out of 171 passes for only two touchdowns and two interceptions. Before coming to the UFL, Mond spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns from 2021 until 2023, but during that time, he played in only one game and completed 2 of 3 passes for 5 yards. While Mond has not earned the opportunity to be a starting quarterback in the UFL, he could develop into a decent quarterback if he plays for a coaching staff with more continuity than last year’s Brahmas’ ever-changing staff.

For more football content, check out Football Scientific

Follow me on X: @AaronSauter7

Aaron Sauter is a 23-veteran high school football coach that is also an fan of all levels of football.
