He played Manny, who was described as \u201ca loyal soldier whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/tv\/news\/last-of-us-season-2-cast-manny-danny-ramirez-mel-owen-1235927601\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">when his casting was announced<\/a> in 2024. Manny is a former member of the Fireflies, a rebel militia, who is friends with Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) and helps her seek revenge on Joel (Pedro Pascal) for the massacre he carried out on the Firefly hospital to save Ellie (Bella Ramsay).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRamirez is best known for playing Joaquin Torres\/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the 2021 series \u201cThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier,\u201d the 2025 film \u201cCaptain America: Brave New World\u201d and the upcoming film \u201cAvengers: Doomsday.\u201d He will also appear in the upcoming Jean-Michel Basquiat biopic \u201cSamo Lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPer the official logline, \u201cThe Last of Us\u201d begins \u201c20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.\u201d Season 2 took place five years later, as \u201cJoel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe series is based on the video game of the same name by Neil Druckmann, who co-created the TV series with Craig Mazin.
