George Clooney has offered a brief update about \u201cOcean\u2019s 14\u201d which is in the works at Warner Bros. Pictures.<\/p>\n

While out promoting \u201cJay Kelly\u201d on the fest circuit back in October, Clooney revealed the project just had its budget approved at the studio, and scheduling was being lined up to start shooting mid-summer 2026.<\/p>\n

Now, in a new interview with Variety<\/a>, he reveals that the main inspiration for the new film will be the 1979 dramedy \u201cGoing in Style\u201d about three aging men who set out to rob a bank.<\/p>\n

He says the plan here isn\u2019t for a nostalgia play, but rather exploring the idea of doing a heist \u201cwhen you\u2019re no longer young and spry\u201d. He explains:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was something about the idea that we\u2019re too old to do what we used to do, but we\u2019re still smart enough to know how to get away with something that just appeals to me. They\u2019ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clooney is currently 64 years old and last starred in an \u201cOcean\u2019s\u201d film nearly twenty years ago. Several stars are back from previous outings including Matt Damon as Linus Caldwell, Brad Pitt as Rusty Ryan, Julia Roberts as Tess Ocean, Don Cheadle as Basher Tarr and Andy Garcia as Terry Benedict.<\/p>\n
