\n\tCBS News<\/a> boss Bari Weiss<\/a> is sending a message to George Clooney<\/a> after the actor criticized her management of the news network. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe editor in chief issued an open invitation for Clooney to visit her newsroom and playfully mocked his move to France. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBonjour, Mr. Clooney!\u201d wrote Weiss in a statement shared<\/a> with The New York Post. \u201cBig fan of your work. It sounds like you\u2019d like to learn more about ours. This is an open invitation to visit the CBS Broadcast Center, where I\u2019m spending the holidays working to relaunch the Evening News with my colleagues. Tune in\u00a0January 5.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe statement was apparently in response to an interview Clooney gave to Variety<\/a>, where the actor said, \u201cBari Weiss is dismantling CBS News as we speak. Am I worried about film studios? Sure. It\u2019s my business, but my primary loyalty is to my country. I\u2019m much more worried about how we inform ourselves and how we\u2019re going to discern reality without a functioning press.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tClooney also criticized CBS and ABC for settling costly lawsuits filed by President Trump that many felt were specious. \u201cIf CBS and ABC had challenged those lawsuits and said, \u2018Go, fuck yourself,\u2019 we wouldn\u2019t be where we are in the country,\u201d Clooney says. \u201cThat\u2019s simply the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tClooney previously co-wrote and directed the 2005 film Good Night, and Good Luck, chronicling legendary CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow (played by David Strathairn). Clooney also recently played the role himself in Broadway production of the film.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrance recently granted citizenship<\/a> to Clooney, his wife Amal, and their twins, Ella and Alexander.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was worried about raising our kids in L.A.<\/a>, in the culture of Hollywood,\u201d Clooney told Esquire<\/a> in an interview published in October. \u201cI don\u2019t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don\u2019t want them being compared to somebody else\u2019s famous kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to NBC News, the Clooneys live in a luxury 18th century villa outside the town of Brignoles in southern France.<\/p>\n

\n\tWeiss has come under criticism for her handling of CBS News since Paramount CEO David Ellison hired the Free Press founder in October. Amid fears that Weiss doesn\u2019t have enough experience for the role and would shift the organization politically to the right, Weiss recently held a 60 Minutes<\/a> report on Trump\u2019s immigration policies that alleged human rights abuses at a prison in El Salvador.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNo amount of outrage \u2014 whether from activist organizations or the White House \u2014 will derail us,\u201d Weiss wrote in a staff memo defending the decision. \u201cWe are not out to score points with one side of the political spectrum or to win followers on social media. We are out to inform the American public and to get the story right.\u201d<\/p>\n
