A little slice of summer fun took the edge off a cold Yellowknife weekend during the Tennis NWT Holiday tournament December 27 and 28 at the Fieldhouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Slavica Jovic, the tournament organizer, said 25 participants played in matches all day Saturday, with finals being played in various categories on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe competition was very tight, with scores near the end of sets and games being extremely tight,\u201d Jovic said of the fast-paced action.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlayers were evenly matched and the outcome wasn’t decided until the final points.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
During the winter season, Jovic said a number of clinics organized in cooperation with the City of Yellowknife are held in Yellowknife between January 24 and April 11, including children\u2019s\u2019 beginner, children\u2019s\u2019 intermediate, ladies, and mixed intermediate.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is also drop-in tennis at the Fieldhouse during winter from Wednesday to Saturday 12-2 p.m. until mid-May,\u201d she said, adding the club always welcomes new members.\u00a0<\/p>\n
