After years of speculation, the NBA Europe project is getting into the fast lane, while a schism in European basketball seems to be unavoidable<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This can be confirmed within the next couple of weeks, as time is of the essence for both the NBA and the EuroLeague.<\/p>\n

EuroLeague awaits the answer of the last four clubs with an A license, which have not yet committed to the new contracts, starting in the summer of 2026.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid<\/a>, Barcelona, Fenerbahce<\/a>, and ASVEL have until the 15th of January to give their commitment<\/a>. All other clubs have already signed, including those who can be considered NBA Europe targets, like Bayern Munich, Milan, and the Greek duo of Panathinaikos<\/a> and Olympiacos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For different reasons, Real Madrid<\/a> \u2013 which has not yet given any official statement on the matter \u2013 and ASVEL are the two clubs that currently seem more inclined to NBA Europe, with the French side expected to be part of the Basketball Champions League in the 2026-27 season, and the EuroLeague being ready to open the exit door for the Tony Parker owned team.<\/p>\n

However, the NBA is also starting to make the push for the new league with a private event, which will be held in London, called \u201cNBA Next: Europe\u201d aimed at basketball stakeholders and potential investors, one day after the game between the Memphis Grizzlies<\/a> and the Orlando Magic<\/a> in the 02 Arena.<\/p>\n

Details of the event have already leaked<\/a>, and NBA commissioner Adam Silver is expected to attend.<\/p>\n

The invitation to the event ends with the following text: \u201cThis is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of basketball in Europe, and we look forward to welcoming you and growing the game together.\u201d<\/p>\n
