Mark Scheifele had a case to make Team Canada’s Olympic hockey roster.<\/p>\n

In the end, the Winnipeg Jets<\/a>‘ leader was one of the most obvious snubs from the superpowered team.<\/p>\n

Scheifele spoke with The Athletic’s Chris Johnston<\/a> on Thursday about missing the roster, and he was matter of fact about things.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know what else I could have done,” Scheifele said.<\/p>\n

At the time of the roster release, Scheifele had the most points of any Canadian forward who wasn’t chosen to the team.<\/p>\n

Through 38 games this season, the 32-year old center has scored 18 goals and dished out 27 assists for a total of 45 points.<\/p>\n

The reality for Scheifele is that being a Canadian means that sometimes, you can really do everything within your power and still not make the national hockey team’s roster for a tournament.<\/p>\n

There are so many good players who didn’t make it.<\/p>\n

If you put together a Canada “B Team,” it’d be one of the favorites to get a medal.<\/p>\n

Scheifele may be involved if injuries happen between now and the Olympics, but if not, he’ll just have to watch.<\/p>\n

It’s a bummer, to be sure. It’s just how it goes for some really good hockey players from Canada.<\/p>\n
