We\u2019re going over some of the best performances and top milestones of the year, as we unveil the winners of the 2025 BJJ Awards here at MMA Mania.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Following up on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/411478\/mma-manias-2025-bjj-awards-best-submissions-of-the-year\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Submission of the Year<\/a> award, our second category tackles the best grappling events of 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">While several major events like the IBJJF Worlds (gi and no gi) definitely brought in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/409948\/clay-upsets-pessanha-moura-moves-up-four-divisions-to-win-heavyweight-world-title-at-2025-ibjjf-no-gi-worlds\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iconic moments<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2025\/6\/2\/24441413\/mia-funegra-youngest-bjj-world-champ-2025-ibjjf-worlds-diego-pato-tainan-dalpra\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">prestige, and the most talent<\/a> by sheer volume, we will only be focusing on professional events for this award. The stacked Team Europe roster absolutely dominated the finals, with Jozef Chen and Eoghan O\u2019Flanagan each getting three straight wins at Polaris 34.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">That wasn\u2019t even the best performance of the event though.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">That distinction goes to Mateusz Szczecinski, who had a total of eight victories, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/400414\/szczecinski-wipes-out-entire-bjj-team-helena-crevar-wins-another-belt-polaris-34-results\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">five straight wins to pretty much wipe out the entire Team Asia &amp; Oceania squad<\/a> by himself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">That Polaris 34 card also saw top pound-for-pound stars Helena Crevar and Ffion Davies win their respective title bouts. (WNO) routinely puts on really good shows, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2025\/4\/17\/24409574\/wno-27-kaynan-duarte-vs-nick-rodriguez-results-live-video-stream-bjj-highlights-jiujitsu-news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WNO 27 back in April <\/a>was particularly great.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It had an incredibly stacked card that delivered with memorable submissions. Andrew Tackett heel hooked Fabyury Khrysthyan in his final bout before moving to the UFC BJJ and becoming their champion. Helena Crevar choked out (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/411478\/mma-manias-2025-bjj-awards-best-submissions-of-the-year\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Submission of the Year winner<\/a>) Elisabeth Clay to become the youngest WNO champ. Owen Jones choked out Julian Espinosa in a battle between highly entertaining grapplers. BJJ legend Xande Ribeiro returned to get a kimura finish, and even the prelims had B-Team\u2019s Chris Wojcik adding another footlook to his resume.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">And these don\u2019t even include the top two contests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The headliner was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2025\/4\/18\/24411701\/nick-rodriguez-wins-kaynan-duarte-cji-champ-vs-adcc-champ-wno-27-bjj-news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> among the most highly anticipated match up of 2025<\/a>, with CJI champ Nick Rodriguez beating ADCC double champ Kaynan Duarte. The MMA world leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2025\/6\/9\/24444834\/thats-illegal-craig-jones-slams-ufc-bjj-patented-cji-pit-ruleset-jiujitsu-news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">took some key ideas from CJI\u2019s widely successful 2024 event<\/a>, then launched a complete rebrand of their grappling promotion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Their efforts to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2024\/11\/20\/24301292\/mikey-musumeci-reveals-ufc-big-plans-take-over-jiujitsu-like-mma-bjj-news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">try and completely \u201ctake over\u201d <\/a>the professional jiu-jitsu scene kicked off in June, with UFC BJJ 1. This card capped off a TUF-style grappling reality show to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2025\/6\/25\/24456036\/andrew-tackett-mikey-musumeci-first-champions-ufc-bjj-1-results-analysis\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">crown three inaugural champions<\/a>, and it also delivered with entertainment as it had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2025\/6\/25\/24454921\/ufc-bjj-1-free-live-video-stream-results-highlights-musumeci-vs-gabriel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">seven submissions in eight bouts<\/a>. Fans (and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/388366\/cji-rescinds-1-million-payout-to-new-wave-craig-jones-and-gordon-ryan-react-to-controversy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a certain very famous grappler<\/a>) may <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/386450\/gordon-ryan-claims-cji-2-corruption-and-rule-change-guaranteed-b-team-win\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">complain about the final result<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/386305\/musumeci-wants-boring-cji-2-format-changed-gordon-ryan-slams-biased-failed-event\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the team format in general<\/a>, but<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/386429\/tiebreaker-b-team-edges-rival-new-wave-to-win-cji-2-1-million-tournament\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> CJI 2 <\/a>was clearly the biggest and best event of 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It may not have reached the heights of CJI 1, but their sophomore event was still a tier above all the other grappling events this year in several factors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov4 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/381573\/highlights-craig-jones-sleeps-chael-sonnen-twice-with-slick-buggy-chokes-in-just-30-seconds-cji-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Craig Jones vs. Chael Sonnen was expectedly hilarious<\/a>, but the rest of the matches produced some elite level grappling \u2014 and a lot of drama. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/386411\/cji-2-video-teen-phenom-helena-crevar-wins-highest-ever-paying-womens-bjj-tournament\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201chighest ever paying women\u2019s bracket\u201d<\/a> showed that teenagers like Helena Crevar and Sarah Galvao were no longer just \u201cprospects\u201d as they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/bjj-news\/385714\/cji-2-day-1-live-results-video-highlights-1-million-team-tournament-and-womens-semis\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">both beat reigning ADCC champions<\/a>. More importantly, they again paid the most money to the athletes.
