(Editor\u2019s note: Looking back on 2025, there were so many good albums released that we decided to reach out to some of today\u2019s artists and get them to weigh in on their favorites. What follows is comedian Don Jamieson, who you may know as one of the three dudes from \u2018That Metal Show\u2019, and his Top Albums of 2025.)<\/p>\n
They (who\u2019s they?) say your musical tastes get more mellow as you get older. Not true.\u00a0Mine have gotten heavier and girthier as I\u2019ve gotten older as evidenced by my list. As always, best to listen to these records (and all records) on vinyl.\u00a0It makes the music is more potent than one of Lemmy\u2019s Jack & Cokes and the grooves are warmer than Kirk Windstein\u2019s beard.<\/p>\n
In no particular order:<\/p>\n
Bask \u2014 The Turning<\/p>\n
I can\u2019t compare this band to any other and that is a very good thing.\u00a0It\u2019s layered, yet stark. Proggy, yet raw. You can drive 55 while listening to it but it also can pump up your workout like an injection of musical steroids. A unique musical journey created in the mountains of Appalachia.\u00a0Hence one of the band members being named Jed.<\/p>\n
Bear Mace \u2014 Slaves Of The Wolf<\/p>\n
The minute I saw a band with the name Bear Mace, I knew I had to listen to them. So potent and heavy, I would actually use it to try and repel a charging Grizzly.<\/p>\n
Cancer \u2014 Inverted World<\/p>\n
Been a fan of this band for quite a while and absolutely the only form of cancer I\u2019m happy to be infected with.\u00a0In fact, I wish this Cancer on anyone who loves British Death Thrash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Dizzy Reed \u00a0\u2014 Rock \u2019N\u2019 Roll Chose Me<\/p>\n
Guns \u2019N\u2019 Roses\u2019 long-time keyboardist puts his Jager-filled soul into creatng this cool, thoughtful hard rock record. Much like his last solo album, if recorded by his \u201cday job\u201d band would also make a great GnR record.<\/p>\n
The Munsens \u2014 Degradation In The Hyperreal<\/p>\n
No not \u2019The Munsters\u2019, not The Mansons nor any relation to Thurman Munson. Just two brothers (not named Munsen) and their drummer laying down sludgy death-doom brutality.
