If there’s one thing we can rely on in this world, it’s that Robert Irwin<\/a> will always do his best to protect animals and spread his message of wildlife conservation<\/a> \u2013 even when he’s far from home. The 22-year-old Aussie star has been in South Africa since winning Dancing With The Stars<\/a>\u00a0last year as he prepares to film a new season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! <\/a><\/p>\n

The Wildlife Warrior took to Instagram <\/a>on Friday, sharing that he had rescued a chameleon from the road, joking that the little creature wasn’t “particularly happy” with him after moving it out of danger. “You can hear the cars just whizzing past, he’s really lucky to be alive,” he said.<\/p>\n

Robert said he saw the small reptile while crossing the middle of the busy road and explained that he would place it in a tree where it’d be safe.<\/p>\n

“This is my favourite animal in Africa,” Robert said, showing the camera the way the chameleon was changing colours in front of their eyes.<\/p>\n

He told his followers that you can tell a chameleon’s mood from its colours, showing that he was quite dark when Robert first picked him up, but became lighter and more relaxed over time.<\/p>\n

“He’s green, [which] means he’s happy and I’d like to think it’s because he knew I was trying to help him.”<\/p>\n

Robert then put the chameleon into a tree, telling the camera excitedly, “Right, all good! That was great!”<\/p>\n

Fans loved witnessing the sweet moment, with one writing, “Every time I watch you, it makes me so emotional, you remind me so much of your dad.<\/p>\n

“Thanks for loving the animals.”<\/p>\n

“I smiled the whole time, thanks Robert,” another said.<\/p>\n

“That’s the content I needed today,” added a third.<\/p>\n

Others said that Robert’s kind act “melted my heart”, while one person described it as “like a dopamine hit”.<\/p>\n

Robert says 2025 was the ‘best year of my life’<\/p>\n

It comes after Robert posted a video on Instagram on New Year’s Eve, sharing that 2025 was the “best year of my life”.<\/p>\n

He shared a video of highlights from the year, including last year’s season of I’m A Celebrity, crocodile rescues, time spent with family and animals, his infamous Bonds campaign and more.<\/p>\n

Of course, his Dancing With the Stars win took up a large chunk of the edit, including his viral shirtless moment.<\/p>\n

Robert’s sister Bindi <\/a>commented on the video, “What. A. Year. Love you so much!”<\/p>\n

“THIS EDIT ARE WE KIDDING,” his dancing partner Witney Carson<\/a> added.<\/p>\n

One fan joked, “Happy new year Robert! Thanks for the abs! I mean memories!”<\/p>\n
