rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Calgary water main break<\/a> squarely at the feet of her chief political rival.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1765485674_689_70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Smith says the city failed for years to check on the state of the troubled <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/bearspaw-south-feeder-main\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bearspaw South Feeder Main<\/a> dating back to the time <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/naheed-nenshi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Naheed Nenshi<\/a> was Calgary\u2019s mayor.<\/p>\n<p>Nenshi is now the head of Alberta\u2019s Opposition NDP, and his office did not immediately reply to the criticism.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" day.<\/p>\n<p>The feeder main supplies 60 per cent of the treated water for the city.<\/p>\n<p>It ruptured this week for the second time in less than two years, forcing Calgarians and those in surrounding municipalities to once again conserve water while fixes are made.<\/p>\n<p>Smith says her government will look into whether more oversight is needed for municipal water
