The first film ended its run with a $2.9 billion global gross in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The second film, \u201cAvatar: The Way of Water,\u201d closed out its run in 2022 with $2.3 billion.  Now, with over two weeks of data on the film\u2019s performance on hand, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/h\/charts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">THR<\/a> reports that box-office analysts are suggesting the film will end its run somewhere between $1.5-1.8 billion worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s incredibly impressive, making it one of the year\u2019s biggest hits, but may not be enough to justify a fourth and fifth feature.  On Day 14, the film stands at $266 million domestic and $935 million worldwide, compared to the second film at $358 million domestic and over $1 billion internationally at the same point.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes as the global box-office of 2025 has ended with $33.5 billion \u2013 up 12% on 2024.
