An OPP officer ended 2025 with a special sighting: A family of majestic lynx.<\/p>\n

On New Year\u2019s Eve, Armstrong OPP Cst. Stubbington spotted the family of wildcats while patrolling in Northern Ontario.<\/p>\n

\u201cA family of five Canada lynx: Two adults and three kittens,\u201d the OPP North West Region shared on social media.<\/p>\n
The officer also shared video of the cat clan as they crossed a snow-covered road.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought it was wolves at first,\u201d he can be heard saying as he filmed four lynx crossing to join the fifth.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh my gosh, that\u2019s crazy,\u201d Stubbington can be heard saying in wonder. \u201cThat\u2019s so cool.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also managed to capture an image of one of the lynx.<\/p>\n
\u201cEncounters like this are a reminder of how incredible our northern wildlife really is, and how much happens in the forests around us that we rarely get to see,\u201d the OPP noted in its post.<\/p>\n
\u201cA perfect final highlight for the year,\u201d it added. \u201cHere\u2019s to more moments of wonder in 2026!\u201d<\/p>\n
In awe of the awesome sighting<\/p>\n
People on social media were also in awe of the lynx sighting, calling it \u201camazing\u201d and \u201cawesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

A second person agreed: \u201cPure magic.\u201d<\/p>\n
A third commended Stubbington for capturing a photo and video of the rare sighting.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re beautiful creatures.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another noted: \u201cIt\u2019s great to see these animal reproducing and healthy!\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not Stubbington\u2019s first encounter with wildlife up north that has been captured.<\/p>\n
