{"id":385059,"date":"2026-01-03T06:29:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T06:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/385059\/"},"modified":"2026-01-03T06:29:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T06:29:06","slug":"driver-of-stolen-car-crashes-into-lightnings-boxing-club-in-oakland-nbc-bay-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/385059\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver of stolen car crashes into Lightning\u2019s Boxing Club in Oakland \u2013 NBC Bay Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A longtime boxing gym in Oakland is shutting its door after a stolen car drove into its building on New Year&#8217;s Day.<\/p>\n<p>The owner for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lightningsboxingclub.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lightning&#8217;s Boxing Club<\/a> said police told him the driver of the suspected stolen car hit another car, sending two people to the hospital, then crashed into the gym&#8217;s front door.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated to cost $50,000 to $100,000 to get Lightning&#8217;s Boxing Club back open, owner Kris Lopez said.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2009, the boxing club has served as a community center and trained fighters, including Lopez&#8217;s son, pro-prospect David Lopez.
