\n\tA revealing new biography<\/a> is making allegations about Gwyneth Paltrow<\/a>\u2018s allegedly \u201ccold\u201d treatment of Goop<\/a> staff, including a message she reportedly sent about office toilet etiquette. <\/p>\n

\n\tAmy Odell\u2019s Gwyneth: The Biography<\/a> alleges that the 52-year-old actress once apparently \u201cfound pee on a toilet seat at the office\u201d and wasted no time in calling it out on a public Slack channel.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSomeone tinkled,\u201d Paltrow allegedly wrote to employees, according to Odell\u2019s book. \u201cMake sure to clean up after yourselves, I\u2019d appreciate it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tOdell goes into more detail about the alleged dynamics behind the scenes at Paltrow\u2019s wellness company, which she founded in 2008 and still works there as CEO. Allegedly, many who \u201cworked up the nerve to go into her office\u201d allegedly experienced \u201cimpatience\u201d and \u201cattitude.\u201d Odell writes, \u201cIf an employee replied to one of her emails with \u2018thanks\u2019 or \u2018on it,\u2019 she\u2019d tell them not to send those emails, because they were a waste of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPer the book, this hostile \u201cdynamic was subtle but damaging\u201d within the company. \u201cAlmost no one \u2014 Goop\u2019s board included \u2014 was willing to tell her no,\u201d Odell claims.<\/p>\n

\n\tGoop has long faced criticisms for its dubious pseudoscience, expensive items, and \u201cout of touch\u201d marketing tactics. However, Odell writes that this was always part of the allure, noting that the brand was \u201can odd window into her world and what it was like to have that money, that privilege and that lifestyle.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think part of the appeal of Goop\u2019s wellness products and content was \u2014 I\u2019ll get one step closer to Gwyneth\u2019s beautiful life,\u201d she wrote. \u201cBut you can\u2019t buy Gwyneth\u2019s life. You can\u2019t buy that privilege.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to Odell, Paltrow has never been concerned about the backlash, and neither were \u201cGoop\u2019s board nor its investors.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is what drove her to do the business. She thought, I\u2019m going to research things, recommend things, and if you want to go traditional, go see your GP. That\u2019s not what I\u2019m going to do. I\u2019m not going to tell you to get a checkup,\u201d a former Goop executive told Odell in the book.<\/p>\n

\n\tPaltrow shared her response to the many criticisms of Goop in a 2011 Harper\u2019s Bazaar UK profile. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere were a couple of times when I thought, \u2018I\u2019m just gonna stop doing it. People are so mean to me. I don\u2019t want to do it,’\u201d she shared, per New York Daily News<\/a>. \u201cBut then I was like, \u2018Who cares what some lame person out there says?\u2019 I was in Italy once, and this old man came up to me and said, \u2018I had the best time in Nashville because of Goop.\u2019 And that is so worth it to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
