The Quebec-based team is bringing Olympian Gunnar Holmgren back into the fold.<\/p>\n<p>A build and a return<\/p>\n<p>During his last stint with Pivot Cycles-OTE, Holmgren worked his way up the elite World Cup ranks and put himself on track to qualify for the Olympics. Starting with <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/mtb\/gunnar-holmgren-brazil-world-cup-interview\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">big results in Brazil in 2022<\/a>, then performances that were a <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/mtb\/gunnar-holmgren-les-gets-world-cup-xco\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">small mechanical away from a top-10 in 2023<\/a>, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/mtb\/gunnar-holmgren-gold-2023-pan-am-games\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pan Am Games title that fall<\/a>, his time with the Canadian squad set the groundwork for a big 2024.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Gunnar-Brazil-XCO-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-77576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Gunnar-Brazil-XCO-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\"  \/><\/a>Gunnar Holmgren racing in Petropolis, Brazil World Cup in 2022. Photo: Caroline Gautier<\/p>\n<p>After moving to KMC Ridley at the end of \u201923, Holmgren earned a spot at, then <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/mtb\/tom-pidcock-takes-thrilling-win-at-olympic-mtb-xc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">raced in the Paris Olympic Games<\/a>. He represented Canada in the mountain bike event, as did his sister Isabella Holmgren. Those results earned Gunnar a spot on Trek Factory Racing for the 2025 season. After steadily improving throughout \u201925, <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/mtb\/gunnar-holmgren-is-leaving-trek-factory-racing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Holmgren\u2019s time with TFR wrapped up in the fall<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Adding Canadian talent<\/p>\n<p>Holmgren isn\u2019t the only new addition to Pivot Cycles-OTE. Countinuing to <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/members\/how-a-small-quebec-cross-country-squad-became-the-nations-team\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">prove it is Canada\u2019s XC team<\/a>, Ian Ackert already announced his move to the Quebec-based squad after his prior team, Trek Future Racing, closed its doors.<\/p>\n<p>Ackert and Holmgren join a returning roster of Pivot Cycles-OTE riders. As the team continues its 2026 roll-out, Owen Clark and Zorak Paill\u00e9 are already officially announced. In 2025, the team also included Maxime St.-Onge, Simon Ruelland, Lily-Rose Marois, Maude Ruelland, Phil St-Laurent and Raphael Auclair.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"As Pivot Cycles-OTE continues to elevate its roster for 2026, it\u2019s getting a major boost.
