Chelsea look to be closing in on the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new coach. But it\u2019s not a done deal yet, and there are major snags.<\/p>\n

Taking our sister club Strasbourg\u2019s manager mid-season is going to destroy our owners\u2019 relations with the French side, and potentially put them into major trouble as they struggle in Ligue 1.<\/p>\n

Beyond that \u2013 Rosenior doesn\u2019t even seem that keen on joining<\/a>. He knows this chance has probably come a little too soon for him, and he\u2019s likely to fail and damaging a growing reputation.<\/p>\n

Given that, it\u2019s important to have an alternative option, and it seems like Filipe Luis has been that man. The up and coming Flamengo coach is on the shortlist, according to the well connected Sam Wallace at the Daily Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But Filipe Luis is a perfect example of why this current model is always going to struggle with coaches. Top managers simply won\u2019t take a job where they have such limited control and say in things like transfers and team selection.<\/p>\n

Up and coming managers will take it to improve their career \u2013 but as soon as the chance comes to move upwards or sideways to a club focused on actually winning rather than profiting from players sales, they\u2019ll take it just like Enzo Maresca did (expect to see him at a Champions League team before too long).<\/p>\n

So in the case of Filipe Luis \u2013 either it doesn\u2019t work out and you sack him. Or it does work out and he jumps ship. It\u2019s a lose-lose<\/p>\n
