The Kansas City Royals are showing faith in their manager after consecutive winning seasons.<\/p>\n

Matt Quatraro and the Royals have agreed to a three-year contract extension that begins in 2027 and includes a club option for 2030, the team announced<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Royals have a 224-262 record (.461 winning percentage) in three seasons with Quatraro at the helm. They went 56-106 during his first season in 2023, but improved to 86-76 in 2024, advancing to the American League Division Series. Last season, the Royals finished 82-80 and missed out on the post-season.<\/p>\n

The last two seasons have been Kansas City\u2019s first consecutive winning campaigns since 2013-2015. The Royals became just the eighth team in the wild card era to have back-to-back winning seasons following a 100-loss season.<\/p>\n

The 52-year-old skipper was the runner-up for American League Manager of the Year in 2024. That season, the Royals became the sixth team in the 162-game era to make a 30-win jump from one season to the next (excluding shortened seasons). They were the third team ever to make the post-season after a 100-loss season.<\/p>\n
