The regular season has come to an end for the 2025 Chicago Bears<\/a>, and though they have more football in front of them, it could have been a better game to enter the postseason on. The Bears fell to the Detroit Lions<\/a> 19-16 to finish the regular season 11-6 atop the NFC North.<\/p>\n

Early on, it felt like this game was destined to be a repeat of the Week 2 matchup between these teams when the Bears fell 52-21. The Lions were moving the ball at will but could not convert their offensive production into touchdowns. Going into the fourth quarter, Detroit was winning 16-0, but the Bears finally woke up from their hibernation.<\/p>\n

Quarterback Caleb Williams led two straight scoring drives with two-point conversions to tie the game at 16-16 with momentum on their side. Things looked even better when safety Kevin Byard intercepted a deflected pass from Jared Goff deep in Chicago territory to give the Bears the ball back. But a three-and-out ultimately led to the Lions marching back into field goal range, where kicker Jake Bates drilled the game-winning kick.<\/p>\n

Though the loss is a disappointing end to a stellar regular season, it ultimately didn’t hurt the Bears in the playoff standings. Thanks to the Washington Commanders<\/a> defeating the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>, the Bears were still able to secure the No. 2 seed and will face the Green Bay Packers<\/a> at Soldier Field for the second time in four weeks.
