The Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>, who went into the deadline with a desire to add right-handed bullpen help, reached a deal to acquire Brock Stewart<\/a> from the Minnesota Twins<\/a>, it was announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers sent center fielder James Outman<\/a> to the Twins as part of the trade.<\/p>\n

In a separate deal, the Dodgers also filled a need for an outfielder by acquiring Alex Call<\/a> from the Washington Nationals<\/a> with less than an hour to go before the trade deadline.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles has been in on some of the most accomplished high-leverage relievers on the trade market in recent days but was ultimately unwilling to pay the high prices. Instead, it settled on Stewart, who was originally drafted by the Dodgers and can now add some necessary depth to a bullpen that leads the major leagues in innings pitched.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old right-hander was one of several pending free agents on the Twins’ roster and has put together one of his best seasons, posting a 2.38 ERA with 41 strikeouts and 11 walks in 34 innings. Originally a sixth-round pick in 2014, Stewart received intermittent major league time as mostly a swing man with the Dodgers from 2016 to 2019, then returned to Los Angeles in 2020, added velocity, underwent Tommy John surgery and resurfaced as a dominant Minnesota reliever in 2023.<\/p>\n

Call,controllable through 2029, provides the Dodgers with solid defense in the outfield, something their current roster sorely lacked, and a very capable right-handed bat. After struggling to find his footing in the major leagues, Call emerged with a really good August last year and has carried over his success in 2025, slashing .274\/.371\/.386 while striking out only 36 times in 72 games.<\/p>\n

Stewart joins outfielder Harrison Bader<\/a> (Philadelphia Phillies<\/a>), closer Jhoan Duran<\/a> (Phillies), starter Chris Paddack<\/a> (Detroit Tigers<\/a>) and right-hander Randy Dobnak<\/a> (Tigers), utility man Willi Castro<\/a> (Chicago Cubs<\/a>), setup man Griffin Jax<\/a> (Tampa Bay Rays<\/a>), shortstop Carlos Correa<\/a> (Houston Astros<\/a>), reliever Danny Coulombe<\/a> (Texas Rangers<\/a>), right-hander Louis Varland<\/a> (Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>) and first baseman Ty France<\/a> (Blue Jays) among veteran players traded by the Twins before the deadline.<\/p>\n

Outman, 28, was hitting .108 with two home runs and four RBIs in 22 games for the Dodgers this season.br\/]<\/p>\n
