Matt Rogers<\/a> is sharing some insight into what led his longtime friend and Las Culturistas podcast co-host, Bowen Yang<\/a>, to exit Saturday Night Live.\n<\/p>\n Yang\u2019s final episode of the NBC sketch comedy show aired Dec. 21 with host Ariana Grande<\/a> and musical guest Cher<\/a>.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \u201cSeven and a half years on the show, I know a lot of people are surprised because they feel like he\u2019s such a fixture, but seven and a half years on the show, five Emmy nominations, countless memorable characters and sketches,\u201d Rogers reflected of Yang on the Monday, Jan. 5 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends. \u201cAnd he was there for the 50th. At the time, he was one of SNL’s first openly gay stars.\n<\/p>\n Yang addressed his SNL exit in a Dec. 20 Instagram post<\/a>, ahead of his final appearance on the show. “I loved working at SNL, and most of all I loved the people. I was there at a time when many things in the world started to seem futile, but working at 30 rock taught me the value in showing up anyway when people make it worthwhile,” he wrote in his caption.\n<\/p>\n
