\n\tJack Black<\/a> revealed during a\u00a0Capital FM interview<\/a>\u00a0that turning down Pixar\u2019s \u201cThe Incredibles<\/a>\u201d is the biggest regret of his acting career. The comedian was offered the chance to voice the movie\u2019s villain role, Syndrome, but passed because he had never heard of director Brad Bird (his only previous credit at the time was 1999\u2019s \u201cThe Iron Giant\u201d) and wanted script rewrites. Black now counts \u201cThe Incredibles\u201d among his favorite movies.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was offered, and I do regret it, saying no\u2026 I was offered Syndrome in that fantastic movie \u2018The Incredibles\u2019 \u2014 one of my favorites of all time, by the way,\u201d Black said. \u201cAnd I said no because I was like, \u2018Uhhh, [director] Brad Bird? Never heard of him!\u2019 [I said to him], \u2018This character that you\u2019re offering me is like a villain, but he\u2019s kinda one-dimensional. I\u2019m interested but I\u2019d like to see a rewrite. Will you add some dimensions to this character?\u2019 And he was like, \u2018Yeah, you\u2019re done.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI learned a valuable lesson because when that movie came out, it was one of the best movies ever made,\u201d Black added. \u201cI was like, \u2018Why was I being so difficult?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy Name Is Earl\u201d star Jason Lee went on to voice Syndrome in \u201cThe Incredibles,\u201d which won the Oscar for best animated feature and became one of Pixar\u2019s most iconic originals. A sequel, \u201cIncredibles 2,\u201d opened in 2018 and grossed $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office. A third movie is now in development. <\/p>\n

\n\tBlack, meanwhile, would find his own animated movie success by voicing the lead role in DreamWorks Animations\u2019\u00a0\u201cKung Fu Panda\u201d and Bowser in the billion-dollar grossing\u00a0\u201cThe Super Mario Bros. Movie.\u201d The comedian is back as Bowser in the latter film\u2019s sequel,\u00a0\u201cThe Super Mario Galaxy Movie,\u201d in theaters April 3.<\/p>\n
