{"id":393015,"date":"2026-01-07T02:55:16","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T02:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/393015\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T02:55:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T02:55:16","slug":"government-seeking-solutions-to-unique-health-recruitment-challenges-across-province","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/393015\/","title":{"rendered":"Government Seeking Solutions to Unique Health Recruitment Challenges Across Province"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/lela-evans-pc-party-july-2024.jpg\" class=\"header-image\" alt=\"Government Seeking Solutions to Unique Health Recruitment Challenges Across Province\"\/>\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The province\u2019s health minister admits barriers remain in the recruitment and retention of health care workers. <\/p>\n<p>One of the promises made by the PCs during last year\u2019s election campaign was to staff rural emergency rooms 24\/7. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vocm.com\/2025\/09\/22\/pcs-promise-to-hire-more-er-doctors-if-elected\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Premier Tony Wakeham promised <\/a>to hire more ER doctors, registered nurses and nurse practitioners, while introducing programs focused on retaining health care workers. <\/p>\n<p>The previous government introduced a variety of incentive packages for return in service agreements. <\/p>\n<p>Minister Lela Evans says they\u2019re looking at ways to address the unique challenges in rural parts of the province. <\/p>\n<p>She says they\u2019re speaking with stakeholders in various parts of the province to help identify issues related to recruitment that are specific to those areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13; The province\u2019s health minister admits barriers remain in the recruitment and retention of health care workers.
