It\u2019s official: The X-Men are making their big screen return in \u201cAvengers: Doomsday<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n

Marvel\u2019s third teaser for its massive superhero crossover, released Tuesday, spotlights Ian McKellen\u2019s Magneto, Patrick Stewart\u2019s Charles Xavier and James Marsden\u2019s Cyclops. It\u2019s the latest \u201cDoomsday\u201d teaser that has been playing in theaters in front of Disney\u2019s billion-dollar<\/a> blockbuster \u201cAvatar: Fire and Ash.<\/a>\u201d <\/p>\n

The short and somber clip starts with a look at some wreckage within the abandoned halls of Xavier\u2019s School for Gifted Youngsters \u2014 the home base of the X-Men. The teaser also includes footage of Xavier and Magneto sharing what seems to be a tender moment as well as an emotional Cyclops unleashing a massive optic blast as what appear to be large legs possibly belonging to Sentinels lumber along in the background. <\/p>\n

\u201cDeath comes for us all,\u201d Magneto says in the voice-over. \u201cIt\u2019s all I know for sure. The question isn\u2019t \u2018are you prepared to die?\u2019 The question is \u2018who would you be when you close your eyes?\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

The clip concludes with text promising the X-Men will return in \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d before fading into the countdown to the film\u2019s release. The countdown was also featured in the previous \u201cDoomsday\u201d teasers spotlighting Chris Evans\u2019 Steve Rogers<\/a> and Chris Hemsworth\u2019s Thor. <\/p>\n

\u201cDoomsday\u201d will mark McKellen and Marsden\u2019s Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts. Prior to Disney\u2019s acquisition of Fox<\/a> in 2019, the iconic mutant superhero team<\/a> headlined its own franchise, which kicked off with the 2000 film \u201cX-Men.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart previously appeared in the 2022 MCU installment \u201cDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/a>\u201d playing a different version<\/a> of the fan-favorite X-Men leader. Other X-Men characters who have already appeared in MCU films include Hugh Jackman\u2019s Wolverine<\/a>, who starred alongside the Merc with a Mouth in \u201cDeadpool & Wolverine<\/a>,\u201d and Kelsey Grammer\u2019s Beast, who had a cameo in one of \u201cThe Marvels<\/a>\u201d post-credits scenes.<\/p>\n

Other X-Men characters expected to appear in \u201cDoomsday\u201d include Beast, Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming) and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn). <\/p>\n

\u201cDoomsday,\u201d directed by MCU veterans Anthony and Joe Russo, will feature \u201cIron Man\u201d actor Robert Downey Jr. as the masked villain Doctor Doom<\/a>. The massive superhero crossover<\/a> will also feature fellow \u201cAvengers\u201d alums Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson\/Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang\/Ant-Man) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki); the \u201cThunderbolts*<\/a>\u201d antiheroes played by Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov\/Red Guardian), Lewis Pullman (Bob Reynolds), Wyatt Russell (John Walker) and Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr\/Ghost); and \u201cFantastic Four: First Steps<\/a>\u201d stars Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm).<\/p>\n
