George Clooney is reflecting on how he thought it was curtains for his career after he got into a heated on-set argument with a TV producer years ago.<\/p>\n
In a new interview with W Magazine<\/a> published Tuesday, the two-time Oscar winner, 64, opened up about the spat after being asked if he ever thought about giving up acting before finding stardom on the long-running drama series \u201cER.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAbout 10 years [into my career], I got in an argument with an executive producer,\u201d he recalled. \u201cI was the third or fourth banana on a TV show, and I had to leave. I thought that was the end of my career.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cJay Kelly\u201d star did not share the producer\u2019s name or the name of the show where the incident took place. <\/p>\n \u201cI wasn\u2019t in a position of power, but I wasn\u2019t going to be spoken to the way that I was,\u201d Clooney explained. \u201cI told him to knock it off. He yelled at me. I yelled back.\u201d<\/p>\n Noting that \u201cit\u2019s still debatable whether I was fired or I quit,\u201d he continued, \u201cBut someone who I had helped out years earlier read that I\u2019d been fired. He brought me in for an audition and gave me a pilot. That kept me in town.\u201d<\/p>\n On the topic of disagreements, Clooney, who has been married to his wife Amal since 2014, revealed in an interview on Travis and Jason Kelce\u2019s podcast \u201cNew Heights\u201d<\/a> last month why he never argues with his wife. <\/p>\n \u201cNeither of us are going to win the argument, so why get in?\u201d Clooney told the brothers, noting that age plays a role in his perspective. <\/p>\n \u201cDude, I\u2019m 64 years old. And what am I going to argue about at this point? You know? I\u2019ve met this incredible woman that is\u2026 she\u2019s beautiful and smart, and she stands for all the most important things I believe in the world. And I can\u2019t believe how lucky I am. So, what am I going to fight about?\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Clooney, Amal and their two 8-year-old children, Alexander and Ella, were granted French citizenship<\/a> late last year, according to government documents.
