The popular INFO-Neige app, used by residents to track snow removal operations in real time, is no longer free after the City of Montreal ended its financial support for the service.<\/p>\n
Users must now pay $4.99 for six months to access the app, a move that has drawn criticism from some residents.<\/p>\n
INFO-Neige was developed about a decade ago after its creators won a hackathon aimed at improving snow removal tracking. The City of Montreal began using the service during the 2014\u20132015 winter season, but the $75,000 contract for 2024\u20132025 expired in April 2025 and was not renewed.<\/p>\n
The app has been downloaded roughly 500,000 times over the past decade. <\/p>\n
