Despite the title change, sources told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/47541155\/ole-miss-names-former-nfl-dbs-coach-patrick-toney-new-dc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:ESPN;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">ESPN<\/a> that Golding is expected to continue calling defensive plays in 2026, as he has during Ole Miss\u2019 surprising CFP surge. Bryan Brown will remain in his role as co-defensive coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Toney brings recent NFL experience to Oxford, having spent the past three seasons with Arizona. The Cardinals finished ninth in the NFL in pass defense this season, allowing 230.8 yards per game. The Rebels\u2019 defensive unit has largely stayed intact under Golding.<\/p>\n<p>No. 6 Ole Miss faces No. 10 Miami on Jan. 8 at State Farm Stadium.
