There might come a day when the Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> move on from Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a>, but it won\u2019t be because the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player asked for a trade.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old Athens native told The Athletic\u2019s Sam Amick<\/a> that it\u2019s simply not who he is to made a trade request.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will never be a chance, and there will never be a moment, that I will come out and say \u2018I want a trade,\u2019\u201d Antetokounmpo said. \u201cThat\u2019s not \u2026 in \u2026 my \u2026 nature. OK?”<\/p>\n

Despite rumblings last month that he would consider a move away from the team, the 13-year vet says that he\u2019s committed to this 16-21 Bucks team that currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference, one game back of the Chicago Bulls<\/a> for the final play-in spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am invested in this team,\u201d Antetokounmpo told Amick. \u201cI want to turn this team around. I want to play good basketball. I want to be healthy. I want to help my teammates. I wanna win games. The last six games we\u2019ve played, we\u2019re 4-2. We have a lot of games in front of us. I\u2019m locked the f— in. I\u2019m locked in. My priority is just staying healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Originally taken with the 15th overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, Antetokounmpo has been limited to 23 games this season with a calf injury. He\u2019s averaged 29.5 points on .645 shooting, 10.0 boards and 5.5 assists over 29.0 minutes a night, his lowest time on the floor since his rookie season.<\/p>\n

Asked if he thinks the Bucks can still salvage the season, the nine-time All-Star believes they can, but with a caveat.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, but we\u2019ve got to be winning,\u201d Antetokounmpo told Amick. \u201cYou cannot win on your own terms, right? Do you think when I won the championship [in 2021], that I didn\u2019t want to have the ball down the stretch and make all the shots that [ex-Bucks forward Khris [Middleton] was making? I wanted that. But at the end of the day, winning cannot be on your terms. So I feel like sometimes on young teams, you have to win by you being pretty, by you being the ball-dominant player, by you feeling good and making the plays. No, you have to be selfless. You have to be selfless. I\u2019ve seen this over and over again.\u201d<\/p>\n
