\u201cThe school scandal was a turning point, and they never really connected or recovered their relationship after that,\u201d a source told Us Weekly<\/a> Thursday, adding that the actress felt the fashion designer \u201cgot her involved\u201d in the situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe didn\u2019t fully blame him, but he spearheaded it,\u201d the source said, noting that Loughlin \u201cnever fully forgave him and never fully got over it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Per the source, the two \u201cwere never the same after\u201d what came to be known as Operation Varsity Blues, which impacted their marriage negatively.<\/p>\n

In March 2019, Loughlin and Giannulli were among dozens of parents who were charged with fraud for paying bribes to get their children into top universities in a nationwide college admissions scam.<\/p>\n

The following May, the pair pleaded guilty<\/a> to paying $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters, Bella Giannulli, now 27, and Olivia Jade Giannulli, now 26, into the University of Southern California as rowing recruits.<\/p>\n

A second source told Us Weekly that the estranged couple \u201cdrifted apart in the last few years\u201d as \u201cthe girls got older\u201d and \u201cthe dust settled from the scandal.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the source, they \u201cgrew apart and realized neither of them had much in common anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMossimo had used Lori for years,\u201d the pal continued. \u201cShe was hoping maybe he would change when he got out of prison, but he got worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

A separate family friend told us that Loughlin once visited a Los Angeles strip club that Mossimo allegedly frequented to \u201c[sit] down with the strippers\u201d and \u201cand find out what he was doing.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

People elaborated at the time that Loughlin felt \u201cbetrayed\u201d<\/a> by Mossimo, but according to Us Weekly, tensions have since calmed.<\/p>\n

Though the duo is reportedly in \u201cno rush\u201d to file paperwork, divorce \u201clooks like it\u2019s in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
