{"id":397610,"date":"2026-01-09T04:44:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T04:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/397610\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T04:44:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T04:44:12","slug":"multiple-redundancies-confirmed-at-endura-as-troubled-cycling-apparel-brand-set-to-leave-scotland-for-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/397610\/","title":{"rendered":"Multiple redundancies confirmed at Endura, as troubled cycling apparel brand set to leave Scotland for London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Endura has confirmed that a number of jobs are set to be cut at the cyclewear manufacturer, as part of parent company Pentland Brands\u2019 plans to uproot the Scottish company, which has suffered two years of heavy losses,\u00a0from Livingston to London and \u201cstreamline\u201d the business.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past week, several long-serving staff members at Endura announced that they are leaving their jobs or facing redundancy, alluding to \u201cbig changes\u201d taking place at the West Lothian company in the coming months, including a \u201ctotal relocation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to a number of posts shared by Endura employees on LinkedIn, and confirmed today by Pentland Brands, the Livingston-based cycling apparel brand appears set to considerably reduce its workforce as it gears up to leave Scotland entirely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBig changes ahead for Endura next year with a total relocation of the brand, so it is with sadness that I\u2019ve a confirmed leaving date [at] the beginning of April,\u201d Endura\u2019s design lead Pete Newton posted on the social media platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe options available just weren\u2019t workable so I\u2019m bowing out \u2013 a tough decision but the right one for me,\u201d Newton, who has worked for Endura for the past seven years, continued, after originally describing the changes as something \u201cI don\u2019t want to be part of\u201d, though he later deleted that section of his statement.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Peter Dunn, a product manager at Endura for five years, posted: \u201cLike many others, my time at Endura is coming to an end, as my role is at risk of redundancy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Katrin McDonald, who has spent the past 15 years in Endura\u2019s communications department, said that she is facing redundancy and will be departing the company in April.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/enduraprojectheid8.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazyload\" itemprop=\"image\" width=\"970\" height=\"647\" alt=\"Endura Project Heid\" title=\"Endura Project Heid\"\/>Endura Project Heid (credit: Endura)<\/p>\n<p>The news that Endura will be leaving its longstanding Livingston base \u2013 and Scotland entirely \u2013 was also confirmed by the brand\u2019s social media head Martin Steele, another staff member with 15 years of experience at the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith Endura leaving Scotland, it\u2019s time for me to leave Endura and take the next step in my career. I\u2019ll be with the team for the next few months, so I\u2019m officially looking for new opportunities from April onwards,\u201d Steele posted on LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/road.cc\/content\/news\/endura-posts-ps47m-loss-316417\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&gt;\u00a0Endura posts \u00a34.7m loss as Scottish cycling brand blames \u201ccontinuation of challenging market conditions\u201d year on from massive \u00a314m loss<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Following these posts, Endura\u2019s company Pentland Brands issued a statement to road.cc on Thursday afternoon confirming that a consultation process is currently taking place concerning redundancies, and that any remaining employees will work at the company\u2019s new hub in Farringdon, north London.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1993 and known for its cycling kit and helmets, <a href=\"https:\/\/road.cc\/content\/news\/238912-endura-bought-speedo-owner-pentland-brands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Endura was bought over by the Pentland Group<\/a>, the majority shareholder of JD Sports and owner of brands such as Speedo, Mitre, Berghaus, and Canterbury, in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>According to Pentland, both Endura and outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Berghaus are set to move to a \u201cmore streamlined product process, designed to deliver innovative products to market faster and more efficiently\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarketing capability will also be expanded in key international markets, building on the recent growth in both brands,\u201d Pentland added, claiming that the upcoming changes to the brand\u2019s marketing, product, and finance departments will \u201cstrengthen\u201d their \u201cbrand capabilities\u201d and support continued international growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of this evolution, Pentland Brands has begun consultation with a number of employees across its UK offices, with some roles proposed to relocate to its new London Hub in Farringdon,\u201d the parent company continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Hub brings creative, brand, digital, and commercial expertise closer together, enabling greater collaboration and agility in brand building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chirag Patel, CEO of Pentland Brands, said in a statement: \u201cWe know these proposals will be difficult for some of our colleagues, and we\u2019re committed to supporting everyone through this period. At the same time, these changes are about investing in the long-term success of our brands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuilding the right capabilities, in the right places, to strengthen our competitiveness and continue our growth internationally. Both Berghaus and Endura are performing well, with Berghaus expanding globally and Endura returning to growth after a challenging period for the cycling category.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This upheaval within Endura comes just three months after the brand revealed that that it had <a href=\"https:\/\/road.cc\/content\/news\/endura-posts-ps47m-loss-316417\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">suffered a \u00a34,724,000 loss after tax in the 12 months leading up to February 2025<\/a>. That marked Endura\u2019s second consecutive year in the red, <a href=\"https:\/\/road.cc\/content\/news\/endura-posts-huge-ps14m-loss-after-drop-sales-311181\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">following the huge \u00a313,840,000 loss recorded between January 2023 and February 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This run of losses followed a period of successive profits at the start of the 2020s, including \u00a3759,000 at the end of 2022 and \u00a32.5m during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s net assets have also tumbled during that period from \u00a316.685m at the end of 2022 to just \u00a31.879m in 2025, even dropping from the \u00a32.845m reported in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/road.cc\/content\/news\/cycling-live-blog-15-december-2025-317303\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&gt;\u00a0\u201cWho is paying for these ads?
