{"id":39765,"date":"2025-08-01T16:39:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T16:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/39765\/"},"modified":"2025-08-01T16:39:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-01T16:39:07","slug":"commission-launches-consultation-for-upcoming-circular-economy-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/39765\/","title":{"rendered":"Commission launches consultation for upcoming Circular Economy Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commission launched today (1 Aug) a <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/have-your-say\/initiatives\/14812-Circular-Economy-Act_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">public consultation and the Call for Evidence for the upcoming Circular Economy Act<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It marks a significant step in the impact assessment process, which will enable the Commission to gather input from a wide range of stakeholders and the broader public, thereby better understanding the bottlenecks and opportunities for the wider deployment of a circular economy.<\/p>\n<p>The Circular Economy Act aims to accelerate the transition to a more circular economy, increasing the EU\u2019s economic security, resilience, competitiveness and decarbonisation.<\/p>\n<p>Due for adoption in 2026, it aims to establish a Single Market for secondary raw materials, increase the supply of high-quality recycled materials and stimulate demand for these materials in the EU.<\/p>\n<p>This follows recommendations from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/media\/ny3j24sm\/much-more-than-a-market-report-by-enrico-letta.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Letta<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/topics\/eu-competitiveness\/draghi-report_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Draghi<\/a> reports, industry (in the <a href=\"https:\/\/antwerp-declaration.eu\/\" class=\"ecl-link ecl-link--icon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Antwerp Declaration<\/a>), the European Council (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/press\/press-releases\/2024\/11\/08\/the-budapest-declaration\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Budapest Declaration<\/a>) and Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>The Circular Economy Act will contribute to the ambition set out in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_25_339\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Competitiveness Compass<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/topics\/eu-competitiveness\/clean-industrial-deal_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Clean Industrial Deal<\/a> to make the EU the world leader on the circular economy by 2030 and to double the EU circularity rate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This consultation will also allow the Circular Economy Act to align with key EU initiatives, such as the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_25_339\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Competitiveness Compass<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/single-market-economy.ec.europa.eu\/single-market\/strategy_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Single Market Strategy<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/single-market-economy.ec.europa.eu\/document\/download\/7807ca8b-10ce-4ee2-9c11-357afe163190_en?filename=Communication%20-%20Steel%20and%20Metals%20Action%20Plan.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Steel and Metals Action Plan<\/a>\u202fand the implementation of relevant recently adopted legislations, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/energy-climate-change-environment\/standards-tools-and-labels\/products-labelling-rules-and-requirements\/ecodesign-sustainable-products-regulation_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=OJ:L_202500040&amp;pk_campaign=todays_OJ&amp;pk_source=EUR-Lex&amp;pk_medium=X&amp;pk_content=Environment&amp;pk_keyword=Regulation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/single-market-economy.ec.europa.eu\/sectors\/raw-materials\/areas-specific-interest\/critical-raw-materials\/critical-raw-materials-act_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Critical Raw Materials Act.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the online consultation using the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/have-your-say\/initiatives\/14812-Circular-Economy-Act_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Have Your Say<\/a> portal.
