NHL teams continue to kick tires on Oilers\u2019 disgruntled forward Andrew Mangiapane.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Edmonton Oilers<\/a> scratched Mangiapane for the second straight game on Thursday, a 4-3 comeback win over the Winnipeg Jets.\u00a0<\/p>\n But is a deal imminent? It doesn\u2019t appear so.\u00a0<\/p>\n There is interest, but the inner workings of a trade haven\u2019t been fleshed out yet, according to Sportsnet\u2019s Elliotte Friedman on the latest<\/a> episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast on Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cA healthy scratch again. I think there are teams that have kicked tires. I think the Jets are one of them. I think San Jose is another one of them. I think there are a couple more,\u201d said Friedman.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cBut to me, this is going to be, how does the trade work? Whatever the case is, I\u2019ve said I think they will be able to trade them. I just don\u2019t have a good timeline on it, but I\u2019ve heard there\u2019s interest. And then it becomes, how\u2019s it all going to happen.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Previously, Friedman mentioned the Anaheim Ducks as a potential suitor, linking a return to Edmonton<\/a> for Ryan Strome, who\u2019s provided six points in 23 games this year.\u00a0What about the Blue Jackets?<\/p>\n The Oilers are looking for a bottom-six role player to fill the gap. That\u2019s where the Columbus Blue Jackets could come into play.\u00a0<\/p>\n Jeff Marek of Daily Faceoff\u2019s<\/a> The Sheet was a guest on Oilersnation Everyday on Thursday<\/a>. He wondered how Edmonton and Columbus could come together for a deal to help balance the lineup and keep Ryan Nugent Hopkins on Connor McDavid\u2019s wing, instead of the third line.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d be looking at hard at Columbus with the thoughts of, \u2018what can we do with the Columbus Blue Jackets to help us build a successful third line,’\u201d said Marek. \u201cI wonder if there\u2019s a Boone Jenner\/Charlie Coyle something [move], they can do with the Blue Jackets that will help move things along to building that third line for the playoffs, which we all know is critical.\u201d<\/p>\n Both players are in the final year of their contracts. Charlie Coyle\u2019s cap hit is $5.25 million, with a no-move clause and three-team no-trade clause.
