New powered-exercise therapy equipment has been installed at West Berkshire Therapy Centre in Thatcham.<\/p>\n
The state-of-the-art machines are designed to help users maintain their mobility, strength and independence.<\/p>\n
Gerry on the climber<\/p>\n
They were funded through a grant from The Berkshire Community Foundation, The Berkshire Nurses and Relief in Sickness Trust and Tesco Stronger Starts.<\/p>\n
Among the first to try out the new machines was client Gerry, who immediately took to the ‘climber’.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe electronics are clearer than on the older machines\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis machine helps me to strengthen my legs and arms, and I can exercise both at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tony on the rower<\/p>\n
The next-generation ‘rower’ has also proved to be a winner with users.<\/p>\n
Client Tony said: \u201cI like that I can use both arms and legs at the same time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can give it a good strong push and pull. It’s stable and I can feel my muscles work.\u201d<\/p>\n

West Berkshire Therapy Centre was set up more than 10 years ago with support from a wide range of donors.<\/p>\n
It provides support for those affected by by Parkinson\u2019s, MS, Stroke, Fibromyalgia, pain, rheumatism, arthritis, cancer, sight loss, post-operative recovery and many other conditions.<\/p>\n
Clients come from all over West Berkshire and North Hampshire.<\/p>\n
