{"id":400867,"date":"2026-01-10T16:59:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T16:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/400867\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T16:59:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T16:59:12","slug":"audi-release-photos-of-their-2026-formula-1-car-shake-down-in-barcelona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/400867\/","title":{"rendered":"Audi release photos of their 2026 Formula 1 car shake down in Barcelona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Audi conducted a filming day in Barcelona on Friday, as they put their first-ever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Formula 1<\/a> car, the R26, through its paces.The team that took over Sauber ahead of the 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/f1\" title=\"f1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">F1<\/a> season releases photos of their test at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/circuit-de-barcelona-catalunya\" title=\"Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya<\/a>.Both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/audi\" title=\"Audi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Audi<\/a> drivers, Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, were on driving duty for the filming day.<\/p>\n<p>Mattia Binotto and Jonathan Wheatley were also in attendance alongside other team members.<\/p>\n<p>Many photos were circulating online claiming it was the R26, but they were fake or AI-generated, as it turned out the real car was in the photos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/audi\" title=\"Audi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Audi<\/a> released.<\/p>\n<p>However, they are not clear, and all we could see was a black car with all the details blurred or out of focus to hide the true looks of the car and any design details.<\/p>\n<p>The R26 the first 2026 F1 car to run<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"280\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/audi-f1-team-r26-shakedown-barcelona-2026-69622187441fc.jpg@webp.webp\" class=\"w-auto h-auto\" alt=\"Audi-F1-Team-R26-Shakedown-Barcelona-2026\"\/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/audi\" title=\"Audi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Audi<\/a> became the first team to give their 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/f1\" title=\"f1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">F1<\/a> car a shakedown, which is something beneficial to them as they look to run their first ever F1 power unit for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>As per the rules, running was limited to 200 km, which is not bad as a team seeks to gather initial data from their chassis and power unit.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/formula-1-news\/f1-news-pirelli-reveal-2026-f1-tyre-compounds-along-with-a-new-logo-abu-dhabi-gp-tyre-test-formula-1-2026-regulations\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pirelli tyres<\/a>, though, are demonstration ones as per the regulations.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/audi\" title=\"Audi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Audi<\/a> will launch the car in an event in Berlin on January 20 and will then take part in a closed test in Barcelona between January 26 and 30. That will be followed by two three-day tests in Bahrain. The first between February 11 and 13. The second is between February 18 and 20.As a quick reminder, the 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/f1\" title=\"f1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">F1<\/a> cars will be narrower (by 100 mm), with a shorter wheelbase (by 20 mm) and with narrower tyres while their minimum weight is reduced by 30 kg.<\/p>\n<p>The power units will be made up of a V6 turbo-hybrid internal combustion engine with no MGU-H and an electric component.
