Team Canada has the potential to have some big names on its roster at the World Baseball Classic.<\/p>\n

Freddie Freeman was supposed to be on the team. But then Canada got some bad news on Saturday.<\/p>\n

It was announced<\/a> that Freeman has withdrawn due to personal reasons.<\/p>\n

Canada also announced that Jordan Romano won’t play.<\/p>\n

They did announce that Jameson Taillon, Liam Hicks and Tyler Black are on the team.<\/p>\n

Freeman had played in each of the last two editions of the WBC for Canada.<\/p>\n

He’s the most famous current MLB player from Canada, and one of the best few ever.<\/p>\n

Canada won’t lack too much at first base. They can play Josh Naylor there. Naylor’s brother, Bo, is set to be the starting catcher.<\/p>\n

But a lineup with both Naylor bros and Freeman in the middle is more imposing than not having Freeman.<\/p>\n

There will likely be at least a bit more information out about this from Freeman when he shows up at spring training for the Dodgers.<\/p>\n

But for now, all we know is that Canada won’t have Freeman at the WBC, and that’s too bad.<\/p>\n
